What is the cask whisky association?
The Cask Whisky Association is a collaboration of cask whisky companies and other professional bodies and individuals who work within the greater Scotch industry Including distillers, lawyers, insurance companies and whisky experts and writers.
They promote best practice and protect customers from unethical practices and companies within the cask whisky industry. The association also helps to discover and report bad practice where it exists and work closely with government agencies to take action.
Who can join the cask whisky association?
Any company involved in the trade of cask whisky and other spirits casks is eligible to apply for membership of the association, provided they meet the specified criteria. Once their eligibility is confirmed, they will be granted membership.

The association members and advisors will be available to advise you if you have any issues within the cask whisky industry. Please contact the association at info@caskwhiskyassociation.org should any issues arise.
I am thinking of buying a cask, can the association help with advice?
Our members have the expertise and knowledge to be able to advise on cask purchasing, a list of our members can be found here. The association also has articles giving tips and advice on their articles and advice page here.
The association can’t advise on cask purchases. The purchaser should be happy with the due diligence they have done before purchasing a cask.
